Football season is just about over. So you can stop giving thanks to all the chips and hot wings and start working on your waist line. What? You have no money left! You're not one of those people, that spent $5,000.00 on a Super Bowl ticket, are you? You must be the same person that will wine that you're still fat and can't afford a Personal Trainer to help you get thin like the Hollywood stars. Well, phat boy, you can work with a trainer for over 6 months for what you paid for that one Super Bowl ticket. Now don't think when you go into a gym or Sweeney's Gym that you're being judged, your not. At least my staff at Sweeney's is there to help you in any way possible.
See, I just need to vent for one minute on so many people I have run across over my many years in this business. I see people spending money on Super Bowl tickets and end up in the hospital before the game even starts because of a heart attack. It's that same person I saw 5 months earlier that said he couldn't afford sessions with a trainer and didn't what to get a membership because he didn't know what he was doing. So it's not that he didn't have the money, he just thought spending it on his health and sense of well being was not a good investment. So now this man came back to see me to get a trainer because his doctor told him to. This man said he was healthy when I first saw him, but just needed to lose a little weight, but all people think they are healthy till they get sick. So if you think you're healthy, you may be, but most are not. If you're thin it doesn't mean you shouldn't workout and keep your body internally working like a fine red wine.
I train my staff at Sweeney's to not sell the gym but to show people that staying healthy can be fun. It also doesn't have to take up much of your time to do so either. I want to ask you one question? If you wanted to sail into the future what boat would you pick, a row boat or a yacht? You must be thinking what does this mean? See, when you workout you improve what your body can do and for a long period in time, such as retirement. Well, if you don't take care of your body when you're as young as 35 you can be as great as a row boat, working hard and not getting very far because you're overweight or have major health problems. I don't want you to get hung up on that if you're overweight that's when you should workout. The outside is how you want people to see you; the inside of you is how long people will see you. I have enjoyed writing in the many magazines for over a year now and have been able to help so many. I would like to say thanks to all of our new friends that stopped by our New Year's Fitness Party that Sweeney's Gym held in January. A lot of hard work needs to be put into anything we do in our busy lives, so let's take time to give thanks to someone who has thanked you.
In next month's fitness column I will be back to give you my review on some new fads and which fat burners and protein shakes you should take. Till then, take fitness one day at a time because "Hey, Rome was not built in a day!".
