What happened to summer? If you have not been in the gym because of nice weather and lake front parties, I have news for you, it's over. So now that summer is by the way side, it's time to burn baby burn that fat off your waistline. No more Johnsonville brats and cream puffs.
It's time to learn about your body. So let's start with the three different body types.
- Ectomorph- Trouble gaining muscle size. So if you are looking to put size on, this body type needs to keep reps low as well as your cardio.
- Endomorph- Trouble keeping the fat off. Fat storage is high with this body type so you want to keep reps and cardio high. Calorie intake should be low and when weight training your rest period should be shortened.
- Mesomorph- Best body type of all three. Capacity for developing big lean muscle.
Three genetic factors
- Bone Size
- Muscle Cells
- Hormone Levels
So you are asking yourself, what does all this mean? Your body is one big science project. So to know how your body works is very important. Bone size is one big factor in muscle size and how big you could become. Wrist size can determine upper arm size on an average individual. Don't think the wrist matters? The wrist is used for more then just late night surfing on line. Measure your wrist and then add 10 inches. That is your genetic potential of your upper arm size. If your wrist measures 6 inches, you could have a 16 inch arm. FYI men, this is the only measurement you can add 10 inches to (sorry.) At this time I would like to state that men think that the largest organ of the body is something they think with most of the time! Once again, this couldn't be farther from the truth. The body's largest organ is the skin. Next, I will take you back to school with re-learning the blood vessels.
Three types of blood vessels:
- Arteries
- Veins
- Capillaries
The three blood vessels all carry blood but have different tasks. Plasma is 90% water, liquid of the blood. Red blood cells (RBC'S) make up half the volume of blood in the human body. White blood cells (WBC'S) help get infection then destroys them. Platelets are disk shaped blood cells whose main function is to start the intricate process of blood clotting. More information you have on the body, the better you can take care of it. The information given in this month's column was based on a question from a Q-life reader. You're now thinking how does this column help to get me thin? If you don't know the answer you should get a trainer from Sweeney's Gym to help you make sense of it all.
